WHY DOES EDI NOT STICK IN ORGANISATIONS?

At a time when EDI is under sustained political attack – from the rollback of diversity initiatives in the United States under Donald Trump, to increasingly hostile rhetoric from parts of the political right in the UK, many organisations are quietly retreating to compliance, minimalism, or silence.
Drawing on extensive experience supporting organisations beyond box-ticking approaches, I'll argue that EDI does not fail because it is ‘too radical’, but because it is too often implemented without confronting power, culture, and resistance.
This session will surface global patterns that repeatedly derail EDI efforts, particularly in periods of political backlash, polarisation, and culture-war framing. It will challenge comfortable assumptions about neutrality, risk aversion, and leadership courage, while offering practical ways organisations can build resilient, values-led inclusive cultures that endure political pressure.
For those seeking fresh thinking, intellectual challenge, and honest conversation about the future of EDI in a hostile climate, this session will push beyond the usual narratives!
Do sign up to this conference that promises to be very valuable.
See you there!
